Love Lunches: Fighting Food Insecurity

6.5 million children in the United States live in households that are food insecure. Lacking the necessary foods for a healthy development, food-insecure children can experience increased hospitalizations, developmental risks, and behavior problems, including aggression, anxiety, depression. and attention deficit disorder. The goal of the Love Lunches project is to make students and parents aware of food insecurity and hunger issues and what could be done to help. Through this project, students will learn about resources they can utilize if they find themselves struggling with this issue.  Also, it will help students who do not currently struggle with hunger issues at home to gain empathy around the types of problems other students might face.
