Styrofoam

The word “styrofoam” technically refers to a trademarked brand of extruded polystyrene foam used in insulation, however, it is colloquially used to refer to expanded polystyrene foam (the white light-weight material commonly used for food containers). Food in styrofoam containers can be contaminated from the chemicals, and this effect is made worse when people heat food up in the containers. The chemicals in styrofoam affect everyone. Styrene was found in 100% of the human tissue samples tested, and long-term exposure to styrene can cause various serious health problems.
