Students will learn how food and the environment are interconnected by tracing the origins of ingredients in a recipe and investigating how to eat seasonally.
Students will develop a quesadilla recipe and research where the ingredients were grown.
Students will deconstruct a ham and cheese sandwich, trace the ingredients back to the sources and determine the environmental factors and resources needed.
Students will be able to understand the characteristics of mixtures and solutions by creating their own salad dressings.
Students will better understand how food choices affect your health while gaining experience with healthier foods that taste good, like granola.
Students will better understand how to compare and contrast (two or more items in a unit of study) by comparing and contrasting different grains used around the world and then use this information to select grains to make a loaf of bread.
